Explorer Post 1948

The Exploree Post is a branch of the Boy Scouts of America that is specifically designed for youth between the ages of 12 and 18 who want a head start on their future. They learn essential skills that will prepare them for their journey ahead.

Our Explorer Post was started in June 1998, since then the Explorers have seemed to grow together. They have trained together, and learned together. Since the post was formed, the “scouts” have become CPR certified and Basic First-Aid certified. The undergo continual training in EMS during their training twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month.

The Post has been involved in some events where they provide First-Aid to the sick and injured, some of these events are:

Merced County Fair - Medical Aid coverage

Farmers Market - downtown Merced

Los Banos Fair - Medical Aid coverage

Triathlog Training - Folsom Lake

Golden West Aviation Fly-In - Castle Airport

The Explorer Post has also played a part as a stepping stone into a career in EMS.   Three of the Explorers have been hired by RAS as Dispatchers and EMTs.  For more information about the program, contact Rob Smith - smithr@riggsambulance.com
