Course Title: Search Dog Assignments - How to create workable search dog assignments

Description: Creating search assignments for K9's is an important part of the planning function. This course is intended to provide a overview of the various types of search dogs and how they can be utilized in wilderness searches. Participants will gain a basic understanding of how to create workable search dog assignments, the critical variables that need to be taken into account in creating those assignments for wilderness searches, and guidelines to determine the appropriate sized area for the desired result (POD). The course will also cover some of the operational aspects of managing search dogs in the field.

Course Description: Participants will have an opportunity to acclimate their dogs to a high line environment on a controlled highline.

Course Title: First Aid for the K-9

Description: Rick Falkenberg, M.D. will give a crash course on K-9 medical issues, encountered in the field, and how to treat them.

Course Title: K9 in Law Enforcement and SAR

Description: Types of K9 uses, crime scenes, scent and field work.

Course Title: Effective Partnering: Mounted SAR & SAR Dogs

Mounted SAR and SAR Dogs are two obvious search resources that include use of domestic animals. Learn how the combination of the handler with dog and rider with equine can be partnered effectively in the field to take advantage of each resource's strengths.

Course Description: How to deal with the unanticipated in the field - changing your search strategy on the fly, making good decisions and reporting them accurately during the debrief.
