MSAR Pending National Standards
Standards are in progress through ASTM for Mounted SAR. These standards would be adopted for interstate / intrastate mutual aid minimum expectations for the Mounted SAR resource. This class provides information regarding the current expectations for those standards, which are close to final draft.Recommended for riders and management.
Understanding the Equine Search Partner Pending national standards will require Mounted SAR riders have basic knowledge more specific to the equine, including speed of travel; clue detection capabilities; equine visual, olfactory and auditory abilities, etc., for more effective use of the MSAR resource. This class provides this training and is recommended for riders and management.
California SAR, The Big Picture
"California SAR, The Big Picture"- Changes are coming! National, State, Local SAR - This is your chance to hear what is happening as a result of national as well as statewide efforts with SAR. Your State SAR Coordinator will present a briefing as to what is happening Nationwide and how it WILL effect the State SAR program and you. From FEMA/NIMS resource typing, to FEMA/NIMS SAR credentialing, to California’s Mutual Aid Guidelines to Legislation. Your State SAR Coordinator, your County SAR Coordinators, and your Sheriffs are very busy protecting and improving upon the State SAR program and it WILL effect you! This session will give you the details as well as give you the opportunity to share your concerns, opinions, or ideas. This is your chance to spend time with your State SAR Coordinator and view the “Big Picture” as well as have the opportunity to express your thoughts.
"Mutual Aid in California as it relates to Search and Rescue”
This is your chance to hear how the Mutual Aid Process works in the State of California. Paul will give you a step by step detail description of what a coordinator does once you have made the call to the State Warning Center. California’s Mutual Aid Guidelines will be discussed. As a Law Enforcement coordinator he will discuss and answer any question you may have as it relates to mutual aid in the SAR environment. The State and the 58 Sheriff’s have put together a well thought out and efficient mutual aid system to make your job on a search worry free when it comes to resources. The system is designed to make your search a successful one. This session will give you the details as well as give you the opportunity to share your concerns, opinions, or ideas. This is your chance to spend time with one of the State’s Law Enforcement Coordinator as well as have the opportunity to express your thoughts.
Missing children and searching for victims of abductions with a sexual assault and homicide.
This course will look at California abduction incidents and review information from the Washington State Attorney Generals Office national study of child abductions. This class will introduce new strategy, tactics and management skills to assist law enforcement and search and rescue to better respond to these difficult incidents. This course will also focus on improving incident management and includes a table top search scenario.
Search’n from da hood
This class will address the initial efforts of ramping up a search with very few resources. We will discuss how to work with limited overhead capabilities, initial search tactics with limited resources and how to prepare for the arrival and deployment of resources as the search moves beyond the initial phase.
"SEMS/NIMS Basic Responder Compliance Course”
This course will provide all the classroom and practical instruction for federal NIMS Compliance. Basic NIMS compliance was a Federal Fiscal Year 2006 requirement and all Law Enforcement and SAR volunteers are required to be NIMS compliant in order to respond to missions. This is your chance to gain NIMS compliance and be entertained by the training style of Deputy Chief Paula Carr. Please get a good night’s sleep and do not eat a big meal before this class.
